A system integrator who needs to implement a traceability system in a tightening operation on a single workstation

A CUSTOMIZED ANTI–ROTATION ARM EQUIPPED WITH A SWIVELING TOOL HOLDER FOR MULTI-POSITION TIGHTENING OPERATIONS

The solution developed for our customer is a special version of our BRV-SA torque arm. This solution allows tightening on various axis, including the 4th axis (the power tool motor center axis), which is objectified thanks to the installation of a rotating encoder on the swiveling tool holder by SMM software or positioning systems integration.

The BRV carbon anti-rotation arms are designed to efficiently contrast the reaction generated by the power tool when it reaches the targeted torque. The arm is a combination of a BRV-SA torque arm and an SA articulated support.

The main feature of this customized solution is the adoption of an innovative THR swiveling tool holder, which integrates a rotating encoder. This solution allows recognition of each radial position of the tool direction by SMM software or Posix positioning systems integration. 


STRENGTHS OF OUR SOLUTION:

  • - The efficiency of multi-directional tightening. Using this customized BRV arm, the tightening system achieves many additional features, like multi-directional positioning, which allows reaching all tightening axis.

 

  • Process and product quality thanks to objectification and traceability features. This solution allows traceability of each process stage. This is one of the most important requirements for modern industrial plants, in order to collect all data related to the production process.

 

  • - The increase of process capacity for improvement of ergonomics in the work environment. Using torque reaction arms, the operator will not be subjected to all efforts caused by repetitive stress due o tightening operations. This will lead to the improvement of working conditions, the increase of psychophysical wellness and consequent productivity improvement.

Target


The customer needed to find a solution for assembly of MVI engines, allowing tightening operation in difficult positions for traditional systems. Simultaneously, traceability and objectification of process were required in order to achieve a high-quality level of the product. And he also wanted to respect the human factor by eliminating the ergonomic risks

This case study allows us to develop and supply with an efficient solution, applicable to various application fields. In this case, the solution solved a requirement for a typical multi-position tightening operation in the industrial field.
